TIME REMEMBERED

 

 

Time Remembered, a romantic comedy adapted from French playwright Jean Anouilh's Leocadia, debuted in the Shubert Theatre, New Haven, Connecticut in September 1957. The production would tour to the National Theatre, Washington D.C., the Colonial Theatre, Boston, Massachusetts, and make its Broadway debut at the Morosco Theatre, on November 12th, 1957. Under the production of The Playwrights Company (Maxwell Anderson, Robert Anderson, Elmer Rice, Roger L. Stevens and John F. Wharton) and the Direction of Albert Marre, Time Remembered was nominated for 7  Tony Awards in1958. The Playwrights Company were nominated  for Best Play. Richard Burton was nominated for the 1958 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play, for his role as Prince Albert and Helen Hayes, in her role as The Duchess of Pont-au-Brone won the 1958 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play. Sig Arno, as Ferdinand, was nominated for the 1958 Best Featured Actor in a Play. Oliver Smith was nominated for Best scenic Design; Miles White was nominated for Best Costume Design and Harry Romar won the 1958 Tony Award for Stage Technician.
