A CLEARING IN THE WOODS

The Arthur Laurents (West Side Story, The Bird Cage) written original Broadway play appeared at the Belasco Theatre in January of 1957. Roger Stevens and Oliver Smith produced 36 total shows before closing the curtains on February 9, 1957. Directed by Joseph Anthony, A Clearing in the Woods was nominated for two 1957 Tony Awards. Oliver Smith was nominated for Best Scenic Design and Joseph Anthony for Best Direction. Other production credits include, music by Laurence Rosenthal, costume design by Lucinda Ballard and Lighting by Abe Feder.
