AFLAC VACATION READING PROGRAM KICK-OFF CELEBRATION
SATURDAY, MAY 30TH, 10:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M.


The Aflac Vacation Reading Program wants you to BE CREATIVE this summer, and what's a better way to do that than a huge Kick-Off Celebration on our front yard? Com play some fabulous games, goof around on one of Monkey Joe's inflatable slides and grab some paint to create your own masterpiece. You'll also get to sign up to be a part of our best reading programever, with fabulous prizes going to some of our best readers. The summer fun begins on Saturday, May 30th from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Columbus Public Library.


It’s easy to participate…

1. If you miss the Kick-Off Celebration, you can sign up at your local library; you’ll receive a log sheet to record your reading.
2. As you read or listen to stories this summer write the titles of the books you read and/or the amount of time you spend reading each book on your reading log.
3. Once you have read either 10 Books or 10 Hours, bring your completed reading log back to the Library. You can select your very own prize from the treasure chest and enter the drawing for the grand prize!
4. Each time you complete another 10 books or 10 hours you can place another entry into the grand prize drawing. The more you read, the better your chances of winning!
5. Everyone who completes the program will receive a certificate of completion and an invitation to the end of the summer party at your branch.

To be eligible for prizes, all completed logs must be submitted by July 18, 2009.

"Be Creative" with Magician Arthur Atsma as he presents magic, music & art in one exciting show!

Several routines that are featured:

MUSIC BOX ...How music is put together. A fun magical experience using a Magic Music Box in which the band is audibly built in front of your eyes! At the end there is a wonderful surprise!

GROUND HOG...Following a fine rendition of the banjo classis Ground Hog, played on the banjo by Arthur, the audience gets to meet a wild (puppet) version that will have them screaming with delight!

COLORS...A beautiful magical routine of colors, change, and the telling of how silks are dyed.

He’s a Columbus favorite, and he’ll be at a library near you!

Reuben Haller, is “Fiddlin’ Dan the Mountain Man!” He fiddles, tells stories and shares humorous Appalachian Mountain lore. He involves his audience in a rollicking good time from beginning to end! Be there for the big finale as Fiddlin’ Dan forms a jug band. The show includes interactive songs, spoon playing and homespun humor.
